In 1920s Los Angeles, stuntman Roy Walker is in a hospital, bedridden and paralyzed after a jump he took in his first film. Alexandria is a child recovering from a broken arm who befriends Roy Walker. Roy tells her an elaborate story of fantasy about six men of various backgrounds who are on a quest to kill a corrupt provincial governor. By telling tales and gaining Alexandria’s trust, he tricks her into stealing morphine from the hospital pharmacy so that he can attempt suicide. As Roy's fantastic tale nears its end, Death seems close at hand.
